Jonah & the Magic Circle

I have often said we live in a “magic circle” here in the southeast corner of Delaware.  It started to snow here yesterday about 3pm and we accumulated maybe 8 inches of snow during the night.  We lost electricity here from 5am to 7am, but not even a flicker since then.  Watch, the grid will go down any minute now.  Late morning it started to rain and has melted a considerable amount of snow.  In this photo you can see patches of grass by the north pond. The blurry spots are water drops on my window.

The real story for us though has been the wind which has reached gusts up to 60mph in this circle.  The beaches are eroding, waves of  15-20-feet high have been reported in Rehoboth Beach, and there is massive flooding.  Our marina is, of course, under water, as you can see from the couple of shots taken by my daughter, Kristen, at the marina:

So, to those of you here and in path of the storm, stay in, stay warm, and don’t drive.  The roads are treacherous.  Governor Markell has declared a level 2 driving ban in both New Castle and Kent counties.  Maryland is under a state of emergency.  For more click HERE.
This is a serious storm and areas to the west and north of us are getting hammered with accumulations of two to three feet in some areas.  Happy I’m in the magic circle.
